1) Cold Remedies

Aconite	Early stages of an illness often within hours after exposure to the cold, at the sign of the 'first shiver.' Aconite is helpful for the sudden onset of intense symptoms that range from a profuse runny nose, chills, fever, coughs to earaches and sore throats. The person is thirsty, restless, and often nervous.
Allium cepa	Watery discharge from the nose (drips like a faucet) and eyes. Discharges flow in a warm room. However better in cold air. Sneezing.
Ars alb	Feels chilly; burning discharge from nose; frequent sneezing; thirst for small quantities of water; anxiety.
Hepar sulph	Similar to Pulsatilla the mucous is thick, creamy, and yellow to green. However this person is chilly and wants to be covered and is thirsty for warm drinks. The mood is irritable, and difficult to get along with.
Pulsatilla	When mucous is of a creamy consistency ranging from pale yellow to green in color. The person is warm and wants to be undressed. They prefer cold drinks and are not thirsty. The Pulsatilla mood is characteristically clingy, emotional, and they want people around. This remedy should not be given in the early stages of cold.
Mercurius	Cold in the damp weather or because of sunshine. Sneezing, thick greenish yellow pus-like discharge from the nose. Thirst for water.
Belladonna	Patient feels hot. For cold with violent onset after exposure to chilling. Discharges either greenish-yellow of bloody. Severe throbbing headache. Face is red and hot.
Natrum mur	Cold with violent sneezing. Discharge is fluent from nose, eyes watery. Patient is better in cold, open air and by washing with cold water. Greasy face and skin.
Nux Vom.	stuffy nose; mostly at night and when outside; nose runs during the day and in warm rooms; impatient and easily angered.
Sabadilla	Can't stop sneezing; nose itches, your eyes tear and feel better outside.

2) Fever Remedies

Remedy	Symptoms
Veratrum alb	Fever with cold perspiration of head, especially on the forehead. The chill during fever is worse at 6 am in the morning. The whole body is very cold.
Aconite	Skin dry, burning hot, intense thirst for cold water, red face.Excessive restlessness and agonized. Bad effects from dry, cold air.Cannot bear the pain, nor to be touched, nor to be covered.
Eupatorium perf	Fever, whose onset is heralded by chill and a great thirst. Feeling of soreness and pain in the whole body. Beaten up sensation. Extreme sweating, worse 7-9am.
Rhus tox	Fever with great restlessness. Patient tosses about continuously. Dry or coated tongue with a triangular red tip. Worse by movement. Sensitive to open air; cough.
Ipecac	Fever. Feels hot with thirst. Severe Nausea.
Arsenicum album	Fever and chills. Patient wants to be covered. Intense thirst but drinks only small quantities of water. Fever is worse after midnight.
Ferrum phos	Fever, especially at night or in the early morning, accompanied by headache which is better by cold applications. Vomiting of undigested foods. Feels hot.
Gelsemium	Nervous chill ; the chill runs up and down the back in wave-like succession and the chills begin in the shoulders.Soreness of the whole bo

3) Cough Remedies

Remedy	Symptoms
Aconite	Sudden attack of cough after exposure to dry, cold air in healthy patient. Dry and painful cough, worse at night, better in cool air. Patient is restless and fearful.
Belladonna	Violent attack of dry cough. Redness of face. A sensation of constriction in the throat. Throbbing pain. Better by drinking warm drinks.
Bryonia	Dry and painful cough. Holds the chest while coughing. Dryness of mouth. Great thirst.
Drosera	Whooping cough. Bouts of rapid cough, again and again, no respite. Breathless, sweats and is exhausted. The cough is worse while talking or singing.
Ipecac	Severe cough with great nausea. Retching and vomiting - no relief. Worse in cold weather.
Kali bich	Cough in summer. Mucus secreted, comes out in strings, hangs out of the mouth. Painful spots in the chest. Worse in the morning and while sitting. Better by inhaling steam.
Mercurius	Cough in damp weather. Cough is dry in night but lot of greenish-yellow mucus in the morning. Thirst for cold drinks. Trembling.

4) Headache Remedies

Remedy	Symptoms
Allium cepa	Headache from cold accompanied by sneezing and watery discharges from eyes and nose.
Belladonna	Severe throbbing headache. Face is red and hot. Better in warm room. Headache due to sinus.
Kali bich	Wandering pain in the forehead. The pain is worse in the morning or from any noise. It is better by applying heat or by lying down.
Nux vomica	Headache due to mental tension. Also headache due to constipation, loss of sleep or abuse of coffee/ alcohol. Sedentary lifestyle.
Ruta	Headache, more near eyes. Due to eyestrain from studying or reading. Pain in eyeballs.
Gelsemium	Headache dull and tired, at base of the brain. Patient lies with this head raised upon a high pillow. Pain is worse by moving, lying low, mental work, heat. Headache relieved by passing urine. Headache with feeling of blindness, trembling and weakness.
Cyclamen	Violent headache, with flickering before the eyes, or spots of colors. Worse during menses.
Natrum mur	Headache caused due do coughing. Every cough results in pain in the head.

5) Skin problems

Remedy	Symptoms
Arsenicum album	Skin itching severe and burning, which increases on scratching the skin but is better by warm applications. Scratching results in foul-smelling fluid. In cases of eczema, black patches which on scratching results in a foul-smelling fluid coming out.
Graphites	Eczema on joints, groins, scalp and behind ears. Skin is rough, dry and cracked. Constant itching, which is worse at night.
Petroleum	Eczema in winter. Skin itching is violent forcing the patient to scratch off the skin. Covered by yellowish crusts. Problems decrease in the summer.
Psorinum	Eczema in scalp, cheeks. Skin itch becomes worse on warmth and repeated scratching makes the skin hard and thickened. Chilliness - requires warm clothes even in summer.
Sulphur	Severe itching and burning which causes aversion to washing. Worse while standing. Dirty skin. At 11am, there is a sudden hunger, empty-sinking feeling in the stomach.
Rhus tox	Itching which is worse in the winter. Eczema of the genitals. Person is very restless and cannot remain still. Yellowish vesicles on the affected patches of skin.

6) First Aid Remedies

Remedy	Symptoms
Arnica	Trauma and shock. Pulled muscles or pain due to strain from lifting a weight, etc. Arnica is the best medicine for shock. In case of accidents or any injury, the first thing to do is give a dose of Arnica 1M. This can be followed by doses of Arnica 6C, every 15 minutes.
Aconitum	useful for the feeling of anxiety and panic from an accident or frightening or shocking events. This person is nervous, agitated and can't sit still. This remedy can really be used during an S.O.S.!
Calendula	A lotion can be prepared by dissolving the mother tincture of Calendula in clean water. This lotion can be used to dress wounds, injuries and any other external abrasions.
Hypericum	To be used in case of injuries to any nerves or injuries to nerve-rich parts like fingers, toes, etc. Tingling sensation of injury is an indicator for Hypericum.
Ledum	Ledum is given for any injuries or sprains, pulled ligaments, when the affected part is numb and there is relief by cold applications.
Ruta	Ruta is given for muscles pulls of injuries resulting in torn ligaments
Rhus tox	Rhus is indicated in cases of sprains, aches and pulled muscles particularly when the patient is better by moving about and feels worse after rest, esp. while getting up.
Apis	Best medicine to be given for bee stings and insect bites. Ledum is also a very good remedy for treating insect bites

7) Asthma and Bronchitis

Remedy	Symptoms
Carbo veg	Breath cold, cold sweat on the limbs. Suffocation extreme - patient cries "Fan me, I want air". Excessive flatulence. Very helpful when patient is sinking.
Lachesis	Asthma with flushes of heat, suffocation - wants to loosen clothes, particularly around the throat to prevent being suffocated. Cough and asthma increases during sleep.
Kali carbonica	Wheezing, suffocation is worse at 3 am. Patient find it difficult to breath. Sitting up and leaning forward offers relief.
Ipecac	Asthma with cough and spasms. Suffocation with severe accumulation of mucus. Extreme nausea. Patient vomits repeatedly, but there is no relief.
Antimonium tartaricum	Asthma with great accumulation of mucus in the lungs. Wheezing and cough - a coarse rattling sound is heard. Inability to expectorate. Nausea and vomiting relieves asthma. Patient feels extremely sleepy.
Hepar sulph	Cough severe, great difficultly in breathing. All complaints are worse by the slightest change in weather or by cold air or a draft, but the patient is better in damp and wet weather.
Dulcamara	Asthma in cold weather. Particularly when the weather changes from dry and warm to wet and cold. Lot of secretion of mucus.
Natrum sulphuricum	Chronic asthma which is worse in damp and wet weather. Loose cough, with soreness and pain in chest, particularly in left side. Cough hurts so much that the patient has to jump up in bed and hold the left side of the chest for relief. Sometimes, patient feels like shooting himself.
Senega	Asthma - wheezing and suffocation. Cough with great mucus. Very helpful for old patients.

8) Backache

Remedy	Symptoms
Arnica	Bruised sore feeling. Back ache from lifting heavy weights or sudden sprain. Bed feels hard.
Bryonia	Rheumatism. Back ache. The patient feels worse while moving about. Relief is obtained by resting. There is relief by lying on the painful part or by applying pressure.
Rhus tox	Restless patient. Stiff and sore muscles due to strain. Patient is restless. Worse by resting. Increase in pain after immediately getting up in the morning or when getting up after rest. Better my moving around or by warm applications.
Nux vomica	Backache while lying in bed. Patient must sit up to turn over, cannot turn directly. Often backache is because of piles or constipation or leading a sedentary life.
Kali carb	Stitching pains. Pains shooting from lower part of chest to the back. Sweat, weakness and flatulence. In women, backache worse before and during menses.
Zinc	Aching in neck, cervical muscles. Increased ache after doing some work. The patient feels worse after resting, but is better by moving around. Nervous weakness.

9) Constipation

Remedy	Symptoms
Alumina	Constipation due to dryness and inactivity of the intestines. Stools accumulate but great difficulty in evacuating stools, no desire. Strains to pass the stool - clay-like stools sticks to the rectum.
Bryonia	Dryness of membranes in the intestine causes problems. There is no desire to pass stools. Hard and dry stools (like burnt). Headache due to constipation - worse on moving the head.
Graphites	Hard stools which are lumpy and joined together by strands - slimy threads. Strains to pass them. Drinking hot milk relieves patient. Skin problems - itch, burning.
Nux vomica	Constipation due to mental strain or leading a sedentary life. Constipation due to abuse of alcohol or coffee. Frequent desire to pass stools, but is ineffectual, nothing comes out. Sensitive nature of patient. Worse in cold weather.
Silica	Stools retained in the intestine. Great straining but stools that come out of the rectum recedes back. Patient has to remove them with fingers. Prefers warm weather but likes cold.
Senna	Constipation accompanied by severe pain in the abdomen, mainly in the region of the liver. Loss of appetite, does not eat well.

10) Diarrhea

Remedy	Symptoms
Argentum nitricum	Diarrhea after eating sweets. Patient nervous feels like passing stools before any important event. Stage fear. Stools watery, slimy and green (like chopped spinach).
Ars alb	Loose motions after food poisoning. Frequent, watery and dark. Stools highly offensive smell. Worse and increased after midnight. Pain and burning in anus.
Chamomilla	Loose motions in children, particularly during the period of dentition. Child is highly irritable and wants to be carried all the time.
Ipecac	Motions after eating rich foods. Loose stools with green mucus. Great nausea
Nux vomica	Diarrhea alternates with constipation. Sedentary lifestyle, alcoholism, too much coffee.
Podophyllum	Diarrhea in summer. Pain in the abdomen. Foul smelling, loose stools, profuse in the morning
Aloes	Stools yellow, bloody, comes in great masses. Involuntary stools, Rectum protrudes out, worse in hot weather and is better by cold.

11) Throat and tonsils problems

Aconite	Sudden attack of tonsillitis of severe burning pain in the throat from exposure to dry, cold air. Restlessness, violent cough. Fear, face, dry and red. Great thirst.
Apis	Burning, stinging pain in the throat, with fever. Worse at 3 am. Throat/ tonsils look puffy and cause suffocation. No thirst and desire for cold drinks.
Baryta carb	Tonsils inflame, swell repeatedly, on every exposure to cold. Swollen tonsils, plug like feeling in throat. Especially indicated in cases of mental and physical weakness.
Belladonna	Sudden violent attack causing severe, throbbing pain in the throat and fever. Worse at 3 am ; mouth and tongue are dry and hot yet there is no thirst. Patient wants to be in a warm room and covered with warm clothes (especially neck)
Hepar sulph	Painful, yellow tonsils with pus. Splinter like sensation in the throat. Better from gargling in hot water. Foul smell from the mouth. Very chilly (requires to be covered in warm clothes sometimes even in summer). Highly oversensitive.
Lachesis	Sever left-sided tonsillitis. Pain, fever and hot perspiration esp. at night. All problems worse at sleep. Pain radiates to left ear and is worse swallowing liquids. Worse by hot gargling but better by cold drinks. Blue-purple appearance of throat. Can't bear tight clothes around neck.
Merc	Right-side tonsils inflamed. Severe throat pain worse at night. Constant desire to swallow saliva. Intense thirst for cold water. Gargling with hot water gives no relief. Great perspiration.
Phytolacca	Right-sided tonsillitis with electric shock-like flying pains and burning in the throat. Pain shoots into the right ear while swallowing, is better by taking cold drinks.
Lac caninum	Severe pain ; highly difficult to swallow anything. Pain keeps shifting from one side to another. Feverish with pains in limbs. Sometimes patches on tonsils / throats.
